86 (depending on experience) OVERVIEW Applied Intellect is looking for Environmental Field Technicians to conduct walking field surveys in the Daniel Boone National Forest of southern Kentucky.
The Environmental Technicians will primarily be responsible for identifying and recording field observations of abandoned oil and gas wells in the Daniel Boone National Forest.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Participate in a field effort to inventory abandoned oil and gas wells on US Forest Service lands; Navigate walking transects in the field using handheld GPS; Make field observations and record information on a GPS tablet; Record methane concentrations of oil wells using handheld field instruments; Time management:
Completing required tasks on time, and within budget; Adherence to safety planning and protocols; Document the presence of select invasive plants; Meet and coordinate activities with other field staff; Complete daily reports of field efforts; Adhere to all safety procedures; Adhere to all state and federal laws and regulations.
Follow all company policies and procedures.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS Ability to walk 5-8 miles per day on uneven terrain through the Daniel Boone National Forest; Potential exposure to snakes, ticks, methane and inclement weather; Minimum of a High School Degree with one year of relevant experience, including experience in use of GPS and recording field observations; Ability to work in a team environment; Proficiency/familiarity in MS Office (i.
e.
, Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams), Survey123, Field Mapper, etc.
; Experience in GPS use and data collection efforts; Ability to use field instruments to measure methane concentrations; Must have a valid driver's license, insurance, and a clean driving record; Position requires daily travel from London, Somerset or Richmond, Kentucky area to the project site (estimated 20 miles each way); Candidate must pass a criminal background check; Must be able to work cooperatively with a multi-disciplinary team; and Able to maintain a cooperative, respectful, and positive disposition always.
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS Satisfactory completion of AI's Orientation and Training, including all web-based training; and Complete additional training as identified by supervisor or Human Resources.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS Ability to walk 5-8 miles per day on uneven terrain through the Daniel Boone National Forest; and Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying.
